The swedish army promoting themselves to the general population. Malmö 2006

Last week of July and not a thing is happening. Ok, not true, Wikileaks is happening and Stockholm Pride. But I’m really tired from last weeks adventures so I think I’ll just try to forget about them both. Hope everyone who attends Pride will be proud and happy and have a wonderful time. I’m too tired to have fun or to be any fun so I’ll just stay away.

The Wikileaks story seem to be a story about normalcy as we don’t know it but still we do. At least that’s what the general story about it all seem to be. This is a bit of a conundrum for me. When did we become so complacent that we know that our leaders, “the  of the free world”, are lying to us and we just don’t give a damn? My question to especially all those reporters and editors that today are falling all over themselves in their attempts at explaining that the leak is not spectacular, that we already knew about it is: What the fuck have you been doing since the inception of the war??? If all was already known then why haven’t we/you held our lying leaders feet to the fire and demanded some proper answers and then demanded them to take action to stop this abomination that we know war is?

But then maybe I’m just not smart enough to understand at all.

Norrhults Stålgjuteri (Steel factory in Norrhult), Småland. They had a real rough time during the financial crisis. They saw their order stock drop from 55 million SEK to 6 million SEK over night. "I had to fire half of my work force, I even had to lay off my neighbour", said founder and co-owner Percy Ekblad. But as the economy seem to be on the rise again so are theirs. Orders are starting to be placed and they're once again looking to hiring new staff.

Every summer for the last 15 or so years Dagens Industri has sent out a team to different regions in Sweden. Last year I spent three weeks traversing the south-western part of Sweden. This year I only had to do two weeks, though I’d gladly done more. One in the southern region Småland, known for its crystal glass and not so generous people. The first is true the latter I presume is a myth. At least they were as friendly and welcoming as any other to us. The reason for these road trips is to visit Read More

Lars Nittve, the boss of Moderna Museet (Museum of Modern Arts) in Stockholm leaves his job. Nittve who originally planned to take it a bit easy scrapped his plans when the chance came to head up the new M+ museum that is planned to open in Hong Kong in 2015/2016. For DI Weekend.

I haven’t been all that active here as I have been active in total. The last six weeks have had me spinning around doing job after job. I’m back at Dagens Industri and they have made sure that I have tons of fun. No matter what it seems like every day is a good day. It can be a day that have me shooting two potential cover stories for DI Weekend plus a bit more or days that have me traversing the city from press conference to boat yard to whatever. Sometimes there are days where I eat my lousy breakfast at 7 a.m not to have anything before dinner at 7 p.m. Well, maybe that’s a bit of a lie. Read More

Late Saturday night a rumour reached me regading a skinny dipping world-record in progress. Obviously I had to go there. I got slightly dissapointed, to say the least. Well, well there you go for trusting rumours that reach you at 3 am when you have consumed your own fair share.
